Gwen Stefani
Gwen Stefani has been a huge star both as a pop singer and as the lead singer for the alternative rock band No Doubt. She was born in Fullerton and spent much of her life in that city. She attended Cal State Fullerton and eventually co-founded her band while in Orange County.

There are very few stars of comedy that are truly as intriguing as Will Ferrell. He was born in Orange County in the city of Irvine and went to University High School in the county. Lindsay Davenport is one of the greatest tennis players in the history of the sport. An Orange County native of Laguna Beach, she became active in the sport at a young age while in the county. She won dozens of tennis events in her career and was the top-ranked women’s tennis player in the world for a part of the 1990s. She also has an Olympic gold medal.

Milo Ventimiglia has amazed people for years on various television shows. The Orange County native from Anaheim went to school at El Modena High School and even competed for the school’s wrestling team. He eventually became an actor and has starred in many hit shows including Gilmore Girls, Heroes and This Is Us.

John Wayne
While many of these stars from Orange County have been important, none could ever be truly as great as the iconic actor John Wayne. Born as Marion Morrison, The Duke moved to California from Iowa as a child and was noticed by John Ford when he was working as an assistant on a movie studio. He starred in more than 150 films with many of them directed by Ford. He is an iconic actor who is best known for his roles in western movies like Stagecoach and True Grit. He lived in Newport Harbor in Newport Beach and enjoyed sailing on his old yacht along the shores of the city in Orange County. Today the main Orange County airport is named in honor of John Wayne. A massive bronze sculpture of the star can be seen in the airport’s terminal.
